Window Cleaning Prices

Welcome to our website. This website was designed to help you find the cost of window cleaning services in the uk. This includes window cleaning prices both for commercial and residential properties.

There are many factors that can affect window cleaning prices, and we would always recommend having a professional having a thorough look at a building for an accurate competitive price. Please use the following only as guide.

Key Factors that will affect the cost of any window cleaning service.

Some of these maybe very obvious but consider them carefully when calculating the price of window cleaning for you.

Consider the regularity of the clean

This generally affects the cost of the window cleaning because if the windows are done more regular the windows are easier to maintain and so window cleaners tend to charge a little bit less per clean if the windows are done more regular. But you may choose to have the windows done less regular to save your total cost on the window cleaning bill in the long run.

Consider the amount of windows you have

For window cleaners time is money. If you have many windows the price per window generally tends to lower because the window cleaner is already there and does not have to pack or unpack so they can spend less time travelling to other jobs and more time cleaning windows.

Consider the service you are being provided

If you are receiving a low price for your window cleaning service it is important to ask whether the window cleaner is using safe equipment and safe methods. Also question whether they are adequately insured, and if they are, are they insured for the surface they are working on (some insurance companies do not cover this and some window cleaners that have this type of cover can be completely oblivious to this factor).

Generally the window cleaning companies and window cleaners we have met in London charge extra to have the window frames done. But some companies include the frames and seals as standard in their service, although they might charge a little more, it is a question worth asking.

Consider area you are located in

If there are many window cleaners in your area, which tends to be the case in all areas these days, you are likely to get a competitive price. Also if you live in a major town/city prices for window cleaning services tend to be a little bit more, especially if there is restricted parking, or any extra costs such as the congestion charge.

Consider method being used

The relatively new method of cleaning windows with the reach and wash generally(extended water fed pole) allows most window cleaners to offer very competitive prices as it is much quicker to clean windows with this system, particularly on large sites. This system is highly recommended as there are minimal health and safety risks also.

Consider the type of windows you have

The main factor that will affect the cost per window is the shape and style of the window. If the window is split into many small panes the cost of window cleaning will cost more because they are far more time consuming. For example:

Window Types

Another factor that some window cleaners might have missed when looking at a building is the type of frames the window is made of. If you have powder coated frames the cost of window cleaning is very likely to be more for you. Powder coated frames are metal window frames that have being painted (some people don't realize they have them). The powder coated paint on the frame can rub off a little and smudge onto the window, and it can be a real nightmare to clean, especially with the reach and wash system. The easiest way to find out if you have powder coated frames is to rub your finger down the side of the frame and see if any paint has smudged onto your finger.

Consider how easy they are to Access

Do you have difficult to reach windows? Are they high level? Are there tight corners or alley ways to get round? these factors should be taken into consideration as it can make a job more time consuming and therefore the cost of the job may cost a little bit more.

Prices

If you have taken all of the above factors into consideration, here are some general prices to work with as a guide:

On average residential properties having all of their external windows cleaned are charged roughly about £20. This is based on a typical 3 to 4 bed semidetached house in London.

Using the above as a rough guide lets calculate the price per window.

Below are 3 types of windows that you may have come across:

Standard PVC window = £1

Bay Window = £1.20

French window = £2.00

You could use the example below as a guide to calculate the total cost of window cleaning for your own property. Let's assume that the windows are on a typical residential home, cleaned once a month and there are 15 windows in total, 8 ground floor windows, 7 upstairs windows, 1 of which is difficult to reach/access and we are in 2011.

Rough price guide per window for a residential property

Normal ground floor window=£1.20
Difficult to reach window= £2.40
Powder coated window= £1.70
Above 1st floor window=£1.30
Above 2nd floor window=£1.50
Above 3rd floor window= £1.80

So if we calculate the total price for the window cleaning service on this house we should come up with something like this:

There are 8 normal pvc ground floor windows, so that's 8 x £1.20 = £9.60

+

6 normal 1st floor windows, so that's 6 x £1.30 = £7.80

+

1 hard to reach/difficult to access window so that's 1 x £2.40 = £2.40

Total = £19.80
